An incision is made about twice the size of the mole desired to be removed. The mole is removed after cleaning its roots with all sub tissues. The incision is then sutured. After the operation in which local anesthesia is applied, the patient is discharged on the same day.

The congenital and subsequently-formed moles do not form an aesthetic problem. However, some of the moles on the face may disturb the person due to its size or location on the face. The moles that cause aesthetic problems are removed without any problem by surgery or laser.

Dressing is applied for the first four days after the mole removal surgery. Water should not be touched to the operation area during this time. The tension felt in the suture area is normal. Sutures are removed after a week or two. This time difference depends on the area where the mole is removed. The stitched area will take its shape completely after 3-4 weeks. Applying special gels and creams to be recommended by your doctor after this period will be very useful to keep the operation scar to a minimum and reduce the risk of pitting.

It is a fast and effective application. It is possible to get multiple moles removed in a single session. It is very normal to have a temporary rash after the session. This rash gradually decreases and disappears completely within 1 to 6 months. The length of recovery period is determined by how many moles are removed and the structure of skin.

Is it dangerous to have moles removed?

  • The decision for surgery is made after the moles of the applicant are examined in detail. Wrong beliefs such as the mole becoming cancerous when touched, or one getting cancer when the mole is removed are very common among public. Such opinions have no medical validity. In fact, since it may become cancerous over time, removal of the mole is beneficial than detrimental.

Is mole removal harmful?

  • There is no medical data to suggest that mole removal causes cancer. Will the removal of moles, which are thought to turn cancerous in the future, eliminate this risk?

Will there be operation scars after mole (nevus) removal?

  • As with any surgical intervention, a small amount of scar may remain due to skin, age and genetic characteristics. No scars remain in laser application.

  • This is a decision to be made by your doctor based on the mole type. Laser method is not applied in moles with deep roots.
